Darrieus principle of no intervention is a rule in Power System Engineering, which is sometimes used in management of power systems. The rule states that the production shortfall in a system should be covered by the reserve of the system itself.
The Darrieus principle does not encourage inter-system cooperation, but on the contrary, calls for an independent solution to problems with the stability of the electric power system.
This principle is not often applied because it is common that one system cannot plan all outages and have sufficient energy reserves for all outages.
With failure of neighboring systems to respond and help out in real time, an outage in a given unstable system can further compound and cause stability problems for surrounding systems as well.
The Darreius principle is respected in a manner that after the system in the problem return to stable state and repairs its outings, it restores the power to the system it obtained power from.
